 Bell Lap Books is a gutsy young publisher with an underdog mentality, dedicated to promoting brilliant but overlooked authors. The company was founded in 2007 by an Australian law student named Amy Vickers, after she became disillusioned with the culture in large mainstream publishing houses that cares more about who wrote a book that what is in it. "I wanted to create a company," Ms. Vickers says, "that published books with more potential as a quality reading experience than as a financial windfall. After all, a publishing house's bottom line is not worth much without thousands of fascinating, page-turning lines preceding it." Bell Lap Books was named in reference to the last lap in a four lap race, where a bell is traditionally rung to indicate to the competitors that they are on the final lap and need to exert the strongest effort they can muster to reach the finish line. Bell Lap Books believes that life is a four lap race, and the last lap, the bell lap, should always be the best. "I try to remind
