You can run fast enough, hit hard enough, but it's still not good enough.
How much more abuse can you stand?

Pete Prosser is a redshirt running back on a third-rate college team preparing for their 1965 season opener against one of the toughest teams in the country. Tired of books about star athletes? This novel takes you to a place you've never been before, the world of college football's forgotten warriors, the redshirts, and what it takes to survive as one of them.

This dark look at a little-known world is based on a true story that will keep your heart pumping until you realize it's 3:00 am and you can't stop reading. You  will be stunned and shocked by what these young men have to endure, and you will never forget them.

Reviews

Average rating 5/5

"I bought this book for my husband, but one day I picked it up and started reading it, and before I knew it I was half finished and couldn't put it down. I cared for the boys in this book just like I care for my own sons, they are so real I kept wanting to find out what happened next. I really did laugh and cry over this book, and it made me think about why men really risk such horrible injuries. I never really understood until now. I gave copies to all my girlfriends for all the men in their lives who are 'still football players' long after they don't actually play anymore. Everyone who has ever loved football, or loves anyone who has loved football, should read this book. You won't be able to put it down."
