Where are you located?
Bell Lap Books is based in Pensacola, Florida, USA.

Can you ship books overseas?
Yes! We can ship anywhere that the United States Postal Service, or UPS will send mail.

I never got my order, what happened?
There are two likely solutions
1) You pre-ordered a book that wasn't scheduled to ship right away, so your order is on schedule even though you don't have your book yet. For example, the Collector's Edition of "The Starchild Skull" by Lloyd Pye shipped to all purchasers in May 2007, although orders were taken since March 2007.

2) If your order was not a pre-order, then please accept our sincere apologies for the delay and contact customer service by email contact@BellLapBooks.com, or by phone 1-800-992-4821, and we will find out what happened and do everything we can to correct the problem.

Can you gift-wrap?
We don't usually gift-wrap, but we're up for whatever rings your bell. Please include any special instructions for gift wrap, inscription, or not to include a receipt with shipment in the "Inscription Instructions" section at checkout. It's our free gift to you for shopping at Bell Lap Books.

Can I get an author to write a personalized inscription (like a Happy Birthday message to my friend, Jim?) in a book I buy?
YES! Our authors are regularly in the office and don't mind writing out special inscriptions. Please include any special instructions for gift wrap, inscription, or not to include a receipt with shipment in the "Inscription Instructions" section at checkout. It's our free gift to you for shopping at Bell Lap Books.

What is your return policy?
We issue full refunds or replacements for damaged or otherwise imperfect books. Please review our full return policy HERE.

How much does shipping cost?
That depends on your shipping destination. A shipping estimator is provided for you to get a general idea of costs as soon as you add items to your cart, based on the zip/postal code you enter. However, the exact cost (often about $2.00 more, occasionally less) cannot be displayed until you enter your full address at checkout.

How long will it take to get my order?
Orders are shipped within three business days of our receipt of payment, and will usually arrive to you 3-5 days later within the USA, and 10-30 days later outside of the USA. If you need a book urgently, please select a faster shipping method at checkout, and we will endeavor to give your order priority treatment. Also feel free to email us at contact@BellLapBooks.com, or call 1-800-992-4821 to ensure expedited shipment shipment. Unfortunately we are unable to guarantee a specific delivery date, but we will always work hard to get your order where you want, when you want it there.

When I try to checkout, my cart is empty. What went wrong?
Your web browser may have its cookies feature disabled. Please see below for a general description of how to fix this. If you know this is not the problem, make sure that you clicked on a "buy" or "add to cart" button. If you just clicked "checkout" your cart will always be empty; scroll down on your screen until you see a "buy" button. If neither of these seem to be the problem, try a different browser, or email us at

We work extremely hard to make sure this doesn't happen, but if it does, please email

Can I pay using PayPal?
Bell Yes! When you proceed to the "check out," simply select "PayPal" from the drop-down menu rather than "Credit Card." It's that simple!

Do you ever have author signings in bookstores?

The cart does not list my country. How can I check out?
We apologize for not listing your country, but that is due to the large number of possibilities we were initially given to make choices about regarding which countries would and would not be listed. Please email us at contact@BellLapBooks.com and we will be very happy to add your country to the cart so you can continue with your purchase.

I got an error message during check out. What happened?
If you received an error before you made payment, please contact us by email contact@BellLapBooks.com or call 1-800-992-482 and we will do our best to address your specific error message. If you received an error after placing your order, when PayPal returned you to our site, your security settings may not have permitted PayPal to share your purchase information with our site. If you receive an email receipt from us and/or PayPal, your order has been entered into our system.

Can you get my local book store to stock your titles?
We can't, but YOU can! We would love for you to ask your local book stores to stock our titles! Simply tell them the name, or, even better, the ISBN (shown on the details page of all of our books) to your local stores and ask them to stock us.

How do I order more than one copy at a time?
When you click "check out," you are first taken to a page where you need to enter your personal information. Next is a screen telling you how many copies you are ordering. Simply replace the number listed with the number you want and click "update totals." If you forget to click "update totals" a little pop-up should tell you that you have not yet updated the totals. Click okay to proceed with the new totals, or cancel to continue with the old totals. Some pop-up blockers, especially on Macs, don't let this little reminder pop up, so you need to try and remember to click "update totals."

I have a complaint. What can I do?

Can I order a book before its official publication date?
In special circumstances we sometimes offer "pre-sales," where you are able to pay for and reserve a copy before the official publication date. Make sure you understand whether you will get your book now, before it's available in book stores, or if you will have to wait until it is in stores to receive your copy.

Who the Bell is Lloyd Pye?
